Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard, who was a devout Christian and questioned the relation between ethics and religion in an ironic piece which eventually argues that if ethics are above faith as Hegel asserted, then Abraham was a murderer. He never outright argues that Hegel is wrong. He leaves it up to the reader to determine whether Hegel is right and Abraham is a murderer, or Hegel is wrong and we must acknowledge faith.
I spent my evening with this man. Sorry, analytic philosophy— I’m cheating on you with existentialism.
