Jake and kimchi...
whatitsliketodie: Jake is a gassy little dog to begin with.  Boston Terriers are like that.  Today is one of the worst.  Every so often this wave of rotten cabbage scent makes itself known and I look over and he’s laying there, one eye open, making sure he got me.  I can only compare it to kimchi, for you foodies, who know that kimchi is what Korean people call cabbage that’s been left in crocks...

It's snowing. Right now. Here in Tampa Bay.
Okay, it’s technically sleeting. Little white balls are gathering in creases on my roof. I went outside with hopes of dancing in the sleet and catching little sleetflakes on my tongue, but it kind of felt like fat, cold rain. BRB going to make sleet angels.

Hi, Cortney, One of your fellow classmates slipped in just before your response, but I can’t tell you how thankful I am for your willingness to help.  There might be some extra credit opportunities in the future and I’ll keep you in mind when they come up. Thanks again, T Translation: You take too long to write E-mails and now you’re SOL on extra credit. But the good news is...

I never realized how much useless stuff I own
until I have to move it all. We’re moving closer to campus at the end of the month, so I thought I would get a head start and clean my room, throw some stuff away, bring old clothes etc. to the Salvation Army. So far, I’ve only accomplished finding useless shit such as a box of Rolling Stone magazines from years ago, boxes of clarinet reeds that are softer than Liberace at the Playboy...

Deep Classic Rock
whatitsliketodie: I hate to promote AOL for anything, but if you go toe aol.com and click aol radio, one of their 350 channels is called “Deep Classic Rock”.  Music as it was not all that long ago and there are some songs and groups that aren’t played anywhere else.  Right now listening to Black by Pearl Jam for example.  Beatles and Nowhere Man before that.  Good stuff. Really good stuff. The...

A New Year is coming...and we're starting it off...
wordboner: It’s a symbol of new beginnings, symbol of new chances and clean slates. That’s why we decided that there would be no better day than January 1st 2010 to make a symbolic gesture to start the year off on a positive and hopeful note. So here’s the scoop. Inspired by Give Brian Equality Group (because friends don’t let friends be second-class citizens), we decided to donate all personal...

Birthday- Andrea Gibson
At 12 years old I started bleeding with the moon and beating up boys who dreamed of becoming astronauts. I fought with my knuckles white as stars, and left bruises the shape of Salem. There are things we know by heart, and things we don’t. At 13 my friend Jen tried to teach me how to blow rings of smoke. I’d watch the nicotine rising from her lips like halos, but I could never...

I wish I had read this in high school.
20 Things I wish I’d known [the undergrad edition] 1.  Buying books on Amazon can save you tons of money. 2.  Sometimes buying books on Amazon costs the same. 3.  Explore the local places to eat and pick your favorite. 4.  Alcohol WILL make you gain weight.  Your mother was not lying to you. 5.  You cannot learn a semester of history in one week.  Try studying all semester. 6.  It is okay to...

The verdict: 10-2 in favor of not guilty. →
I told myself I wouldn’t get worked up over this, but I’m pretty heartbroken. Way to go, Florida judicial system.

Hippie owner was sitting outside, coughing. He was burning incense inside. I feel like I missed out on all the fun.

In 7th grade, I was forced to transfer to a middle school where I knew no one. The same year, a boy named Kris King moved to the area from Ohio. We were initially outcast as the new kids and were each other’s only friends. We played in band together all through middle school and high school. He was one of the nicest and least judgmental people I’ve ever known. He didn’t care...

In my intro. class, I’ve sat next to this really cool kid every day. I’ve called him “Drew” all semester. Today, on the last day of the semester, I found out his name is actually Ron. (facepalm)

itiswellwithmysoul: PETA, your new ad is certainly not in the best interest of animals it is extremely offensive, insensitive and self serving. It shows you lack good character and integrity. Your justification is that it is OK because animals are mistreated. Yes they are and they certainly shouldn’t be because they are beings and not objects or toys but exactly how does that justify your...

whatitsliketodie: I really don’t want to be tested and see the doctors at the lung transplant center tomorrow.  Good news would be it’s not gotten worse in three months.  I don’t think it’ll be much worse but I still wish I wasn’t going until after the holidays, just in case it is. Whatever it is, I’ll deal with it, and in a few days everything will be juuussstt fine.  It usually takes me about...
